In the recruiting update last week, we looked at the standout linebacker unit at Whitehaven High School. Bryson Eason, Martavius French, and Tamarion McDonald are all standout prospects with tons of D-I attention. Lately, the interest between them and the Vols has risen considerably. On Sunday, Jeremy Pruitt and his staff received a good update.

Martavius French had been committed to Arkansas since the end of July. This weekend, French and his teammates took the trip to Fayetteville to watch the Razorbacks play Auburn. It had seemed like French was trending away from Arkansas lately, but the fact that Auburn handed them a 51-10 beating probably didn’t help much. Coach Chad Morris is only in his second season, and may already have one of the hottest seats in the country. The Razorbacks look lost as a team right now and aren’t showing many signs of improving. It seems as though the “new coach shine” has worn off now, and it’s going to start coming down to results. Results that Morris simply isn’t getting.

After the visit, French officially de-committed from Arkansas. After posting his decision on Twitter, several current Vol commits replied showing love to the big orange. Even his teammate, Bryson Eason, chimed in with support for the Vols. This has to be great to see if you’re Jeremy Pruitt, as Eason is a huge priority. Even with McDonald still committed to Mississippi State, being able to land 2/3 of the trio would be great for the future of the Vols linebacking unit.
